The Song of the Stones

We assume awareness sets at with the organic.
The inorganic is mute, dumb and inchoate.
Maybe not.

Compass needles talk with the magnetic north pole.
Geologists read the history of the earth in rocks.
Maybe more.

Do stones sing and rocks raga and we’re not listening?
Do Precambrians brag about the old days and Triassics tell them to get with the times?
Maybe so.

Do stones weep when the tide carries off a boulder’s sand?
Do waves wish they could stay to listen to the elegy?
Maybe.
